BEIJING, China: Top seed Aryna Sabalenka secured her 15th consecutive win, defeating Madison Keys 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the China Open quarter-finals.
The world number two maintained her impressive form with a comfortable victory over the 24th-ranked American in just 65 minutes.
Sabalenka, this year’s US Open champion, is set to face either Karolina Muchova or Cristina Bucsa in the next round. Her powerful game proved too much for Keys, as both players exchanged breaks early in the first set before Sabalenka pulled ahead.
Sabalenka’s win keeps her on track for a potential semi-final clash with China’s Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen. Victory in Beijing could also see Sabalenka challenge Iga Swiatek for the world number one ranking.
