NORTH SOUND: Quinton de Kock hit a blistering fifty as South Africa defeated a battling US by 18 runs in their first T20 World Cup second round match today.
The Proteas piled up 194-4 off their 20 overs following being put into bat before limiting the US to 176-6 as the Super Eights round got underway at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
However, the US, who stunned former champions Pakistan in the first round of the mega event, were close to another major upset when Andries Gous (80 not out) and Harmeet Singh (38) put on 91 for the 6th wicket.
