MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin paid an unexpected overnight visit to the military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don overseeing the Ukraine offensive, the Kremlin said on Friday.
This marks his second visit to Rostov-on-Don in less than a month.
Putin paid a visit to the headquarters of the Russian Armed Forces in Rostov-on-Don following his official visit to Kazakhstan on Thursday, according to the Kremlin.
Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and the commander of military operations in Ukraine Valery Gerasimov accompanied the president.
President inspects military equipment
Putin inspected new military equipment and was briefed on military operations in Ukraine, the statement added.
Putin last visited Rostov-on-Don at the end of October where he engaged in discussions with military officials regarding the Kremlin terms of the special military operation in Ukraine.
