Russia’s Putin and Belarus’ President to Hold Talks on Monday

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Minsk on Monday for talks with his Belarusian counterpart and ally Alexander Lukashenko.

Belarus President’s office said Friday that the two leaders would hold talks at the Independence Palace in Minsk during Putin’s official visit.

Talks to focus on defence, economic cooperation

The visit comes ten months into the Russian troops’ offensive in Ukraine, which was launched from multiple directions, including Belarusian territory.

Minsk said the two leaders would hold a one-on-one meeting and wide-ranging negotiations with their ministers on “Russian-Belarusian integration.”

Russia and Belarus have committed to a wide range of initiatives for deeper defence and economic cooperation.
