Kyiv: A Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s port town of Izmail on Friday killed three people, while a separate strike on a police office in the central city of Krivyi Rig claimed one life, according to officials.

In Izmail, a strategic port along the River Danube, two elderly women and a 73-year-old man were killed, with 11 others injured, including a child, as reported by Odesa regional governor Oleg Kiper.

He said that private homes, outbuildings, and vehicles were damaged, and several fires broke out but were quickly extinguished. Although Izmail is far from the front lines, it is frequently targeted by Russian forces aiming to disrupt vital port infrastructure for Ukraine’s shipping operations.

Romania’s defense ministry reported that it scrambled four jets after detecting the incoming drones, stating that one drone may have briefly entered its airspace for less than three minutes, although no impact zone was reported within its territory.

In Krivyi Rig, a missile attack on a police headquarters killed one woman and injured five others, regional governor Sergiy Lysak said. The strike severely damaged the police district building, with search operations ongoing to locate individuals trapped under the rubble. The attack also impacted 23 private homes, three multi-story apartment buildings, and an educational facility.

Furthermore, an overnight missile strike hit the central-eastern city of Dnipro, damaging an industrial facility but causing no injuries.

On the battlefield, Russia claimed the capture of Marynivka, a village in the eastern Donetsk region, as it continues its advance toward the strategic city of Pokrovsk.
