KYIV: Three people were killed and more than a dozen wounded following a Russian strike on the city of Konstantynivka in eastern Ukraine, the local governor said on Saturday.
“The Russians fired at a residential area, damaged four multi-story buildings, a hotel, civilian cars, and garages,” Donetsk regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said on social media.
“At least three civilians were killed, and at least two were injured,” he said.
Later in the day, the governor gave an updated toll of 14 injured people.
The governor said rescue workers and police were at the scene, “assisting people and carefully documenting yet another crime by the Russian forces on our land.”

Nearly a year into its invasion of Ukraine, Russia is seeking to seize control of the entire Donetsk region. Moscow has already declared Donetsk a part of Russia.
Ukraine said this week that Russian forces had stepped up their attacks in eastern Ukraine, particularly on Bakhmut and Vugledar. On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the front situation was “extremely deteriorated,” particularly in the Donetsk region.
