MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit China in October, according to a statement from the Kremlin on Tuesday. The visit aims to strengthen ties between Russia and China, two countries known for their close alliance.
Yuri Ushakov, an aide to President Putin on international affairs, confirmed that Russia has received an invitation to attend the Belt and Road Forum in China in October and intends to participate in the event.
In March, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Moscow, during which he emphasized that relations between China and Russia were entering a new era. The two nations frequently highlight their strong partnership and cooperation in various fields, including the economy and military.
Ties Between China and Russia After Ukraine Offensive
The bilateral ties between China and Russia have grown even closer following Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine, which began in February last year and resulted in economic sanctions imposed by Western countries. China refrained from condemning Russia’s actions and chose to maintain its strategic alliance with Russia.
President Putin’s upcoming visit to China will further solidify the bond between the two nations. His last visit to China was in 2022 when he attended the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing. Additionally, he participated in the first two Belt and Road Forums held in China in 2017 and 2019.
