Russian President Arrives in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Russian President Vladimir Putin and his accompanying delegation arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday on a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At the Royal Terminal in King Khalid International Airport, Putin was received by the Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, and National Security Adviser (accompanying minister), Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, the Mayor of Riyadh Region, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, the Saudi Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Abdulrahman bin Suleiman Al-Ahmad, the Russian Ambassador to the Kingdom, Sergei Kozlov, and several other officials.

Russian President Visits UAE

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the United Arab Emirates before departing for Saudi Arabia. Putin landed in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.

Putin was escorted to the UAE presidential palace, where he was greeted with a 21-gun salute and a flyby of UAE military jets trailing smoke in the colors of the Russian flag.

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Vladimir Putin. Both the leaders discussed “the importance of strengthening dialogue and cooperation to ensure stability and progress”.

Among other things, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy industry and advanced technologies, Russia’s state-owned TASS news agency reported.
