KIEV: Russian missiles targeted Ukraine’s two cities; the second-biggest city of Kharkiv and the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia in a wave of latest attacks on Friday.
Zaporizhzhia’s acting mayor Anatolii Kurtiev said in a statement that at least 17 Russian missiles hit the city in one hour on Friday morning. The missile barrage targeted energy infrastructure, he added.
Russian troops also carried out overnight attacks that damaged power supplies in parts of Kharkiv, Western media reported.
According to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synehubov, the Russians hit critical infrastructure. There were about ten explosions. In some regions, the attacks caused are power cuts and emergency services have reached on sites.
No casualties in cities
There were no initial reports about casualties in either Zaporizhzhia or Kharkiv.
Russian troops have been advancing recently for the first time in half a year, in a very difficult and tough battle.
