Russian Missile Strike Kills 16 in Ukrainian City of Kostyantynivka: Zelensky

KYIV: At least 16 people were killed when a missile attack struck the Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. The victims of this devastating strike were described by President Zelensky as “people who did nothing wrong,” and he expressed concern that the death toll might rise further.

In a somber announcement on social media, President Zelensky condemned the artillery attack, attributing it to “Russian terrorists.” He revealed the heart-wrenching toll the assault had taken on the city of Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region, which included a regular market, shops, and a pharmacy. The attack also left numerous individuals wounded.

The city of Kostyantynivka, situated in the eastern Donetsk region, lies close to the front line of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. President Zelensky underscored the urgency of defeating what he called “Russian evil” and ending the suffering caused by such acts of violence.

Among the tragic casualties, there was a child, and approximately 20 others are believed to have sustained injuries, as reported by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. He reassured the public that all relevant emergency services were actively engaged in responding to the crisis, and efforts were underway to contain the fire resulting from the attack.

The missile strike targeted various locations in the city, including a bustling market, shops, and a pharmacy.
