ISLAMABAD: Two Iranian companies inked deals on launch services with the Russian space corporation on Thursday.

Russia’s Roscosmos in a statement said that with the help of international conferences, events, and exhibitions, which the company itself organized and were attended by rocket and space industry companies, memorandums of cooperation were inked with Iran’s SAHAB and SpaceOmid.

Roscosmos, in December 2022, had stated that a team of delegates was attending the eleventh Iranian International Air Show, at the event the team had held a number of meetings with Iranian officials along with those of “friendly countries”.

Inking of deals on space launch termed milestone event

Last year in August 2022, Roscosmos disclosed that it launched the Khayyam satellite of Iran into orbit. For the launch, Kazakhstan’s Baikonur spaceport was utilized. The Khayyam is named after the 11th Century Persian philosopher and poet Omar Khayyam.

The Khayyam satellite’s launch in terms Russo-Iranian cooperation had been described by Roscosmos Director-General Yury Borisov as a milestone event.
