KIEV, Ukraine: A Russian general was killed on the southern front purportedly in an attack involving British Storm Shadow missile, according to reports.

Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov was killed during an attack on occupied Berdyansk. However, Russia’s ministry of defence has not commented on the reported death of the Lieutenant General. If it is confirmed, Tsokov will be the ninth Russian general to die in the war.

The deputy commander of Russia’s southern military district was hit in an attack on occupied Berdyansk, according to Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the ousted mayor of Mariupol, Tsokov. Russian bloggers said that Ukraine forces used British Storm Shadow missiles in the attack.

Ukrainians have been using Storm Shadow missiles to strike occupied Berdyansk as these are the only missile in their arsenal that can hit the port town.

The last Russian general killed in Ukraine died when a missile hit his headquarters in Zaporizhizhia region almost one month ago.
