Russian Foreign Minister to Participate in High-level Talks in Tehran

MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to participate in high-level talks in Tehran, Iran, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed.

The talks, scheduled to take place on October 23, will convene the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Russia, and Turkey in the “3+3” format.

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan confirmed his attendance at the Tehran meeting during an announcement on October 20.

Foreign Ministers’ Level Talks to Discuss South Caucasus

The discussions, to be held at the foreign ministers’ level, will focus on key issues related to the South Caucasus region. Participants will discuss regional cooperation, including political, economic, security, transit, and energy matters. Additionally, peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, a topic of significant international interest, are expected to be a central focus of the talks.

This meeting follows the inaugural session in the “3+3” format, held last year in Moscow at the level of deputy foreign ministers. Notably, the initial meeting did not include the participation of Georgia.
