KYIV, Ukraine: Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure in the southern Mykolaiv region.
The attack, involving 56 drones and one missile, caused power outages but no casualties, according to Mykolaiv Governor Vitaliy Kim. Ukrainian air force reports indicate that 22 drones were shot down, while others were lost due to electronic warfare. The attack damaged infrastructure in areas near the front line, with five hits reported.
In Kyiv, debris from downed drones fell near a kindergarten, but no significant damage or casualties were reported. In the northeastern Sumy region, a drone strike caused a fire at an administrative building and damaged vehicles.
As winter approaches, Ukraine continues to urge its allies for additional air defense support to protect critical infrastructure. Despite Russia’s denials, its attacks have led to thousands of civilian deaths during the ongoing conflict.
