TEHRAN, Iran: Russian armed forces reported the destruction of a Ukrainian reconnaissance group in the Kharkov region.
Among the eight individuals killed, one wore a chevron displaying the U.S. flag, suggesting he might have been a professional mercenary or a former American soldier, though no identifying documents were found.
The Russian Federal Security Service has previously highlighted the involvement of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine, with numbers reaching 18,000 fighters from over 85 countries, including Poland, France, and Georgia.
The Russian Defense Ministry claims that several thousand foreign fighters, supporting the Kiev regime, have been eliminated since the conflict.
