MOSCOW: A Russian court has rejected Apple’s appeal against the alleged misuse of its dominant market position in the context of in-app payments, for which it was fined $12.1 million in January, Western media reported on Tuesday.

However, Apple did not issue any statement on the matter. Russian anti-monopoly service fined Apple in last January over what it said was the U.S. firm’s abuse of its dominant marketplace, Reuters reported.

In a statement, the Russian anti-monopoly service said it had earlier found that Apple pushed Russian developers to utilize Apple’s payment services in violation of Russia’s rules regarding competition.
The Russian anti-monopoly service’s decision entered legal force in May following it was accepted by a Moscow court, Reuters reported.
