PESHAWAR: Russia’s envoy to Pakistan, Danila Ganich said on Wednesday that Moscow and Islamabad were making progress to expand trade ties.
Pakistan-Russia trade ties
Talking to media in Peshawar, the envoy said that trade income between Pakistan and Russia, which was just 90 million dollars in the 1990s was now half a billion dollars. He said that the trade income between the two nations was five times higher at that time. The Ambassador said that they would not stop at this point and would continue to strengthen bilateral relations. He said that they were not against anybody, either US or West, adding they were pro-Russian and pro-Pakistanis.
He said that Islamabad as a friend was a reliable partner, and Moscow wanted to have political interaction with Pakistan at every level. The envoy said that today, both Pakistan and Russia have agreed to set up direct links between their cities and were also considering for establishing interaction between the government of Moscow and the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
To a question, the envoy said that they want to change imbalanced policies. He further said, “I want more Pakistanis in his country, such as Pakistanis want more Russians in their country”.
