ISLAMABAD: Recently, a meteorite damaged the spacecraft that was to return three crew from the International Space Station. In light of this, on Wednesday, Russia said that it would be sending a rescue capsule on February 20 for the crewmembers to Earth.
Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, said that the Soyuz MS-23 rocket will leave on February 20 in “an unmanned mode”.
Incident has stranded three crew aboard International Space Station
Russian cosmonauts Dmitry Petelin and Sergei Prokopyev along with NASA astronaut Frank Rubio had been scheduled to return via the MS-22 rocket. However, that rocket was damaged after being struck by a small meteorite.
The agency while elaborating ruled out a technical fault, which means the space capsule will now return to Earth without any crewmembers. Presently, there are seven people aboard the ISS.
