MOSCOW: Russia’s Agriculture Minister, Dmitry Patrushev, has stated that Russia holds no inclination to extend the Black Sea grain deal, according to the RIA news agency.
Patrushev emphasized that this decision is primarily of a political nature. However, he assured that Russia will continue its grain exports, maintaining existing trade relationships.
In July, Russia formally withdrew from the Black Sea grain deal, which had previously facilitated Ukraine’s secure export of grain from its Black Sea ports. The decision was attributed to Russia’s dissatisfaction with the deal’s failure to channel grain to the most economically challenged nations.
Russia Cites Obstacles to its Own Grain, Fertilizer Exports
Additionally, Russia cited existing obstacles in its own grain and fertilizer exports as a contributing factor to its withdrawal.
Patrushev, quoted by RIA, revealed that despite discontinuing the grain deal, Russia’s grain export volumes have not experienced a decline and have, in fact, witnessed a slight increase. The agriculture minister affirmed that Russia continues to have established buyers for its grain.
