KYIV: One individual was killed after Russian forces deployed numerous attack drones over Ukraine in their latest air strike, Ukrainian authorities said on Wednesday.
The Ukraine air force said that out of the 46 Iranian-made drones launched by Russia, 32 were successfully shot down. The majority of the remaining drones targeted areas near the front line, particularly in the southern Kherson region.
In a residential area, a 35-year-old man lost his life due to debris from a downed drone, as confirmed by the governor of Ukraine’s Odesa region. Additionally, the interior ministry stated that four others, including a six-year-old child, sustained injuries.
While there were no immediate reports of further casualties, the air force highlighted that military forces successfully intercepted drones over various parts of central, southern, and western Ukraine.
Russia has consistently conducted air strikes on population centers located well beyond the front line, marking a continuation of its nearly two-year-old invasion of Ukraine.
The interior ministry of Ukraine also documented a separate fatality resulting from overnight shelling in Kherson city.
