BAGHDAD: Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Baghdad on an official visit to discuss boosting bilateral relations and energy cooperation, an Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a statement.
Lavrov, who is leading a Russian delegation that includes representatives of oil and gas companies, is scheduled to meet his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein on Monday, said Ahmed Al-Sahhaf in a statement.
Strategic relation between Russia and Iraq
Sahhaf said the visit would focus on “strategic relations with Russia and to encourage investment opportunities, especially in relating to energy sectors.”
The Russian foreign minister will also meet on Monday with top Iraqi officials, including Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, President Abdul Latif Rashid, and parliament speaker, Sahhaf said.
