MOSCOW: Russia said on Sunday that its forces targeted military airbases in the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions in western Ukraine and that all targets were hit.
The Russian defence ministry said that its army carried out strikes overnight on Ukrainian armed forces airbases around the Starokostiantyniv settlements in the Khmelnytskyi region and Dubno in the Rivne region.
Ukraine said it faced several waves of attacks overnight, downing thirty out of fourty cruise missiles, AFP reported.
It also said Russia fired three hypersonic Kinzhal missiles which were harder to intercept. However, it did not provide information on whether they were destroyed.
Khmelnytskyi’ authorities said on Sunday morning that a fire had erupted at a corn waste warehouse in Starokostiantyniv, spreading over 1,400 square metres before being extinguished.
The region, hundreds of kilometres from the front lines of the war in eastern Ukraine, has been repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks.
Ukraine’s President Denounce Russian Strikes
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday that today there was another Russian missile strike against Ukraine. They targeted Motor Sich and Khmelnytskyi region.
Meanwhile, Vitaliy Koval, the head of the regional state administration, said Sunday that only a few houses were damaged in the Rivne region.
