MOSCOW: Russian officials said that Russian air defence systems destroyed around 21 Ukraine-launched drones over the Crimean Peninsula and various Russian regions.
Russian news agencies cited Defence Ministry officials as saying air defence systems downed 11 of the drones over Crimea. Local governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said that the region did not receive any damage.
Russian media reported that Ukrainian-launched drones were also intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, and Tula regions of Russia.
The region’s governor Vladislav Shapsha said via Telegram that drone wreckage fell on the roof of a non-residential compound on the outskirts of the city of Kaluga, but there was no major injuries or damage.
Independent media could not verify the reports while Ukrainian officials also did not issue any statement over the matter. Recently, Ukraine has intensified its air assaults in recent months, in what it claims are strikes targeting Russian military infrastructure to undermine Russia’s war efforts.
