MOSCOW: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and China’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, emphasized the indispensable role of Moscow in any discussions regarding a resolution to the Ukraine crisis.

According to a statement from the Russian foreign ministry on Sunday, the two diplomats held extensive discussions on the Ukrainian crisis during Li Hui’s visit to Europe.

They emphasized that any meaningful political and diplomatic settlement must involve Russia and consider its security interests.

Galuzin and Li Hui underscored the importance of Moscow’s participation in efforts to address the ongoing conflict, which has persisted since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

While Russia frames its intervention as a mission to “denazify” Ukraine, Kyiv and its Western allies condemn it as an unjustified act of aggression. As the conflict enters its third year, with civilian casualties mounting, the statements from Russia and China highlight the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the region.
