MOSCOW, Russia: Russia announced on Thursday that its forces have captured two more villages in eastern Ukraine, marking continued progress in its military campaign.
The Russian defence ministry reported the capture of Mykolaivka, a village situated about 15 kilometers (just over nine miles) from the strategic city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. Additionally, Russian forces took control of the settlement of Stelmakhivka in the neighboring Lugansk region.
These advances indicate Russia’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its positions in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, key areas in its broader strategy to extend its influence deeper into Ukrainian territory. The capture of these villages could have strategic implications for controlling supply routes and gaining further access to critical areas in eastern Ukraine as the conflict continues.
