MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused the United States and NATO of possessing expansionist plans and being responsible for attacks on other countries.
Zakharova’s remarks came in response to comments made by Julian Smith, the American representative to NATO, who blamed Moscow for the strained relations between the US and Russia.
Dismissing Smith’s assertions, Zakharova ridiculed the idea of NATO extending assistance to other nations, describing it as laughable and urging the US State Department to reserve such narratives for children.
Russia Accuses US and NATO of Aggressive Actions Against Several Countries
Highlighting NATO’s actions, Zakharova pointed out violations of treaties by the alliance, its expansion toward Russia, and its involvement in aggressive actions against several countries, including Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan.
Moreover, Zakharova accused NATO member states of openly demonstrating hostile intentions toward Russia, with the primary objective being to inflict a strategic defeat on the country. She claimed that these nations are supplying weapons and intelligence to the Kyiv regime and are involved in the conflict in Ukraine, which they orchestrated.
