PARIS: Host France and New Zealand have kicked off the Rugby World Cup in the Stade de France at the start of a seven-week mega event that is a key rehearsal for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, Western media reported on Friday.

France have to face a tough first test against New Zealand despite the they (France) are among the favourites team. New Zealand have won the Rugby World Cup title three times. On the other hand, South Africa will start their drive against Scotland on September 10.
