BEIRUT: Israel has been put on a high alert after exchange of fire with Hezbollah fighters at the Lebanon border, Arab media reported on Tuesday.
UN force in Lebanon increase patrols
The UN force in Lebanon has increased patrols in the area due to the tense security situation.
The tensions have forced the border residents to leave the area and move toward the cities of Sidon, Beirut and the Bekaa region. Israeli fighter jets have already intruded in Lebanese airspace.
Hezbollah initiated an attack on Monday afternoon on the Israeli installations with guided missiles and mortar shells. They claimed to inflict human losses on the Israeli army.
Lebanese schools and institutions in the south have already been closed. The Lebanese University has closed all its branches in the south because of the tense security situation on the southern part of the border.

The situation is causing concern among residents, leading to stockpiling of supplies in anticipation of further escalation.
Due to the tense situation in the Gaza Strip, Labanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held a crucial meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Berri also met with US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea to discuss the escalation in the Gaza strip.
The British Foreign Ministry has already issued a travel advisory to Lebanon asking its citizens to travel the country only when necessary and not to go to certain areas in south.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the Israeli bombings on civilian areas of Gaza has raised to 770 on Tuesday.
Palestinian Health Ministry reported that over 4,000 Palestinians have sustained injuries as a result of the Israeli bombardment on Gaza in retaliation for the Palestinian Hamas group launching Operation Al Aqsa Flood against Israel early Saturday to regain its occupied areas.
