ISLAMABAD: Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) and Civil and Works (C&W) department on Sunday cleared Galiyat’s roads for all sorts of traffic after three days of continuous heavy snowfall.

After the snow clearance operation, a large number of tourists reached the scenic Galiyat to enjoy the serene beauty of snowfall and nature. GDA and C&W have opened all link roads besides the main Murree road, with the help of heavy machinery. The residents of the remote parts of Galiyat were able to purchase essential items as they had been stuck in villages during the last 3 days.

Galiyat Receives Over One Foot Snow

Galiyat received more than 1 foot of snow in three days, where apart from the main road in Murree, all link roads in the area were blocked and people were facing a shortage of firewood, food items, and medicines.

People were also facing acute difficulty while taking their patients to Abbottabad and other cities due to the blockades caused by snow. Under pressure from the locals of the region, the Galiyat district administration and GDA started road clearance operations and for that purpose sent machinery.
