Road Accident Kills 13 in Pakistan’s Rahim Yar Khan District

RAHIMYAR KHAN: At least 13 people were killed, and more than 15 others sustained serious injuries in a horrific accident on the M-5 motorway in Rahim Yar Khan district of Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Police officials said that a speeding passenger coach collided with a passenger van from behind on M-5 Motorway in Rahim Yar Khan.

The passenger van was parked on the roadside as its tyre had burst, and the passengers were helping the van driver to replace it.

The collision caused the van to overturn while the coach plowed through the victims causing casualties.

Injured shifted to hospital in Rahim Yar Khan

Rescue teams immediately rushed to the accident site and started rescue operation. The dead bodies and injured were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Rahim Yar Khan city. Hospital sources said that condition of some of the injured people is critical.

Rescue officials claimed that the deceased and injured people belong to Faisalabad district of Punjab province.

Pakistan has witnessed several deadly road accidents recently.

In August last year, 20 people were killed in a collision between an oil tanker and a passenger bus in northeastern Pakistan.

The collision occurred near Multan city on a motorway when the bus heading from Lahore city to Karachi hit the oil tanker carrying petrol.
