Islamabad——Following the rising numbers of Autism in children in Pakistan, the first National Programme for autism and children with mental disorders was launched on Saturday.
A statement issued by the federal health ministry’s spokesperson said that this programme will be first of its nature in Pakistan. A state-of-the-art autism center will be established in Islamabad, where along with treatment, these children will also be provided education.
According to the details, to ensure the basic rights for these, adequate legislation will be carried out through the parliament and for this ministry will collect the data through nationwide surveys to get the exact number of children suffering from autism and mental disabilities. Unicef is also willing to work on this project with the ministry of health. Federal Minister Qadir Patel has said that, “Ministry of Health is working in its full capacity to ensure the practical and effective steps to bring improvement in the health sector in Pakistan.”
