The Agency for the Affairs of the King Abdulaziz Complex for Producing the Kaaba Kiswa has concluded replacing the embroidered piece of cloth covering the Al-Hajer Al-Aswed (the Black Stone), and Rukan Al-Yamani (the Yemeni Corner).
The agency is a branch of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.
The production of removing embroidered pieces with golden reed threads was done by six staffers from among the most talented and trained tailors at the complex, and it would be completed within 20 days, at a pace of ten days for each work of the two, taking into account of the rising number of the pilgrims performing Umrah and running it without causinf any disturbance those greeting and kissing the Black Stone, and touching with thands the Rukn Al-Yamani.
Eng. Amjad Al-Hazmi, senior assistant head of the King Abdulaziz Complex for Production the Kaaba Kiswa or Kiswa factory, said that the embroidery knitting works around the Black Stone and the Rukn Al-Yamani have been concluded in line with the highest quality professional standards and with the latest techniques and skills employed in automatic embroidery by the new Tajima machine.

It is worth noting that a few years ago a new line of embroidery was added to the Kiswa for the very first time to shine on its Rukn Al-Yemani. The Kaaba, Islam’s holiest shrine, has four sides and corners, with its northern corner known as the “Iraqi corner,” towards Iraq the western side is knwon as the “Levantine corner,” the southern as the “Yemeni corner,” twords Yemen, and its Black Stone is placed in the eastern corner of the basic eddifice of Holy Kabaa.
The Kiswa is normally made of pure silk with gold threads used in it at a cost of more than SR22 million. It is produced in a special factory in the Umm-Jood neighborhood in Makkah, which is manned by 240 technicians, weavers, other staff and administrators. The Kiswa is 95 centimeters wide and nine meters high in size. It is made of huge 47 pieces, which are joined together to cover all the corners of the Kaaba.
