BEIJING: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday stressed that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute was essential for lasting peace in South Asia.
During a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing he said that Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
In a high-level meeting, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed their nations’ enduring partnership and shared commitment to regional stability, a Foreign Office news release said.
During the meeting, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for China’s consistent support, particularly in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and right to self-defence.
He reiterated Islamabad’s unwavering support for China on its core issues and expressed a strong desire to further deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
Welcoming Dar to Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi referred to Pakistan as China’s “ironclad friend” and a valued strategic partner. He lauded Pakistan’s consistent stance on issues of national sovereignty and reaffirmed China’s enduring support for Pakistan’s development and its role in promoting regional stability.
The two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues, reviewing the positive trajectory of ties between their countries. They agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, agriculture, and industrialisation, and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly Phase-II and its growing potential through third-party participation.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination on international platforms and pledged to work together to advance peace, development, and shared prosperity across the region.
The meeting was conducted in a spirit of warmth and mutual respect, reflecting the enduring friendship and deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China.
Dar arrived in Beijing on a three-day official visit from 19-21 May 2025 on Monday. The visit is a part of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, and a reaffirmation of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two brotherly countries.
