ISLAMABAD: Researchers have disclosed new information regarding what are the triggers of fatigue that are associated with patients who have recovered from COVID-19. Across the world, there are millions who are presenting symptoms of long Covid that include fatigue.

Lead researcher Christopher Gerner along with his team that works at the Medical University of Vienna and the University of Vienna have shown that the likely cause behind the syndrome is an anti-inflammatory response that doctors identify as exaggerated.

Researchers had not been aware of anti-inflammatory processing prior to the study

Prior to this study, there has been no evidence that processes involved in the inflammatory processes are active in patients with long Covid syndrome. However, auto-immunity has been inferred.

iScience has published the results of the new study. It says, that triggers for the syndrome include substances that are anti-inflammatory and not an inflammatory reaction that is defined as excessive.
