WASHINGTON: Republicans are projected to narrowly win a majority in the lower chamber of Congress or the US House of Representatives, early results suggested.
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden’s Democratic Party held control of the Senate. The result set the stage for two years of divided government.
The edge for Republicans in the House gives them the power to launch probes against the Biden administration and his family business.

The Republicans clinched a total of 218 seats after they won the California seat in the lower chamber of Congress.
Republicans margin in the House of Representatives is slightly razor-thin, it was enough to stop Joe Biden’s agenda for the next two years.
The Republicans led by former president Donald Trump, who hoped to win back control of both chambers, failed to show visible performance in the last week’s midterms.

However, Republicans won the seat they needed for the House majority after their candidate Mike Garcia won the California’s 27th district seat.
The Republicans are now poised to win between 218 and 223 seats in the 435-seat lower House, according to CBS.

But with votes in cliffhanger races still being tallied, Republicans majority in the lower chamber of Congress may not be clear for days or even weeks.
Former president Donald Trump has already announced his candidacy for the 2024 general election.
