WASHINGTON: A long-awaited report has strongly criticized the FBI’s handling of its prob into ties between Moscow and the 2016 Donald Trump campaign. In a 300-page report, special counsel John Durham said the FBI’s investigation lacked “analytical rigor”. Donald Trump had promised that Durham’s report would expose the “crime of the century”. The FBI added it has addressed the issues and matters emphasized in the report.
Report Criticizes FBI for Launching Trump-Moscow Probe
In the report, Durham accused the FBI of acting on ” unanalyzed, raw, and unsupported intelligence” when it initiated the investigation. The FBI stated in a statement that it had “already executed dozens of remedial actions”.
The probe into alleged relations between the Trump elections campaign and Moscow, which was conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, led to several criminal charges against former Donald Trump campaign staff and decided that Moscow had tried to interfere in the 2016 election in the US.
The report did not, however, find that the Donald Trump campaign and Moscow conspired together to impact the elections. On his social media platform on Monday, former President Donald Trump said the report suggests that the “American public was cheated”.
