ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani poet and literary figure Amjad Islam Amjad passed away at 78 due to cardiac arrest, his family confirmed on Friday.
According to the family sources, when Amjad Islamabad Amjad did not wake up in the morning, they called a doctor, who pronounced him dead in bed.
Amjad Islam Amjad, born in Lahore in 1944, was the recipient of Pride of Performance (1987) and Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence, 1998) awards.
Literary figure
The late literary figure had penned numerous books, including Safar Parey (2018), Zindagi Ke Meley Mein (2018) Such Ki Talaash Mein (2018), Al Hub-O-Nahar (2018), Girah (2017), Chirag E Rehguzar (2017) Geet Hamaray (2015) Baatein Kerte Din (2014) and others.
He also wrote several famous TV dramas, including Waris, Dehleez, Samandar, Raat, Waqt and Apnay Loug.
