ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday said that the remarks and statements in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public rally had challenged the country’s integrity.

Speaking in the National Assembly, the Minister said that the rally had undermined the country’s integrity, unity, as well as federation. He denounced linking Pakistan’s existence with any individual, describing it as awful.

Khawaja Asif strongly condemned the remarks made by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur regarding attacking Punjab and his comments targeting political leadership, women, and the journalists. He also criticized the remarks made by Gandapur, which he stated hurt the sentiments of political workers, leaders and media persons.

The Chief Minister termed September 8 as a “black day” in the nation’s history in which the Chief Minister KP had challenged the federation. He expressed regret over PTI’s avoidance of talks with other political parties and alleged that PTI attempts to gain power via backdoor means.

Khawaja Asif regretted the PTI leadership’s acts targeting defense installations on May 9 and highlighted that the memorials of martyrs were attacked by the workers of PTI. The Minister criticized PTI for failing to work towards strengthening Parliament and democracy.

The minister stated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are highly patriotic and have made significant contributions to the nation’s progress and development. He further said that the people of the two provinces have made sacrifices to protect the nation’s borders.
