Relief from Heat: Twin Cities Receives Rain

ISLAMABAD: Residents of the twin cities finally get some relief as Islamabad experienced rainfall following the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) forecast of rain, wind, and thunderstorms.

According to the PMD, light to moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal have entered the upper and central regions of Pakistan, accompanied by a westerly wave affecting northwestern areas. This weather pattern has resulted in rain, wind, and thunderstorms expected in the twin cities, as well as isolated locations in Sindh, northeast and south Balochistan, Kashmir, the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Temperatures in Islamabad are predicted to range between 38-40°C Wednesday, dropping to 36-38°C on Thursday. Similarly, Rawalpindi will experience maximum temperatures ranging from 37-39°C today, decreasing slightly to 36-38°C on Thursday.

Over the past 24 hours, rain and thundershowers were reported in isolated areas of lower Sindh, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Balochistan.

Rainfall

Significant rainfall were recorded in Karachi’s Sarjani Town 58mm, City 32mm, Airport 31mm, Orangi Town 30mm, University Road 20mm, PAF Faisal 16mm, Saadi Town 15mm, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 12mm, North Karachi 09mm, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Kemari 07mm, Korangi 04mm, Malir 03mm, PAF Masroor, Ibrahim Hyderi 02mm), Mithi 19mm, Tando Jam 09mm, Badin, Chhor, Thatta 01mm.

In Punjab, Sialkot City recorded 20mm, while Gujrat received 12mm. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Parachinar saw 19mm, and Chitral 01mm. Balochistan’s Zhob recorded 7mm of rainfall.

Meanwhile, the highest temperatures recorded was in Turbat at 46°C, Dalbandin and Jacobabad at 45°C, and Mohenjo Daro, Nokkundi, and Sibi at 44°C. Rohri, Larkana, and Dadu recorded temperatures of 43°C.

These weather patterns highlight the varied climate across Pakistan, with some regions experiencing intense heat alongside others receiving significant rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
