ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the Reko Diq project would prove to be a game changer for the development of the province of Balochistan and the region, besides ushering in a new era of prosperity and progress.
Talking to a Barrick Gold delegation led by CEO Mark Bristow, which called on him, the prime minister said that Pakistan was rich with great resources of minerals. The government was taking steps on a priority basis to take maximum advantage of these resources.
He said that the participation of Barrick Gold and other international companies in the Pakistan Mineral Summit organized earlier on the day showed the revival of investors’ confidence in Pakistan.
In the meeting, Mark Bristow apprised the premier of the progress of ongoing development works in Reko Diq.
Reko Diq Project Beneficial for Both Parties
The premier said that the Reko Doq project deal would prove to be beneficial for both parties.
He directed all the relevant departments to fulfill their responsibilities regarding the execution of the Reko Diq project.
The meeting was informed that a Community Development Committee (CDC) had been established in the Reko Diq which would identify actions for the development of Balochistan and its people.
