GENEVA: The International Committee of the Red Cross is currently engaged in communication with both Hamas and Israeli authorities about hostages taken by Hamas fighters during a deadly incursion, a senior official said on Thursday.
Fabrizio Carboni, the ICRC regional director, stated, “We are presently in touch with both Hamas and Israeli officials as part of our initiatives on this matter.”
“As a neutral intermediary we stand ready to conduct humanitarian visits; facilitate communication between hostages and family members; and to assist any eventual release,” he added.
