After assisting a man who passed out on an Air Canada aircraft, a Saudi doctor is being hailed as a hero and has been given an award.
Dr. Awrad Mohammed Nasrallah, a scholarship recipient, revealed to Arab News recently that she introduced herself to passengers after a flight attendant inquired about the availability of a doctor onboard.
Nasrallah stated, “I was able to step in right away and provide him first aid till he totally recovered consciousness.
“The patient was hypotensive, so I administered an IV fluid until he started to gradually regain consciousness,” she continued.
The Canadian air crew on the aircraft was in direct contact with the medical personnel on Canadian territory who approved my treatment plan, so we did not need to make an urgent landing.
Nasrallah asserted that it was her responsibility as a medical expert to assist anyone in need. “I lived in Canada for more than five years, and our message as physicians is simple: to serve all humans.”
“The cabin crew appreciated my assistance and expressed their gratitude to me. I was equipped to handle emergency cases thanks to my general surgery courses at the University of Alberta.
On Sunday, she was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her efforts to save the passenger as well as her scientific brilliance by the Saudi cultural attache in Canada.
Nasrallah has distinguished herself in a variety of medical specialties, and for her work treating the lung ailment empyema, Alberta, Canada named her one of the top 20 physicians.
She was additionally ranked among the top 10 resident surgeons at the University of Alberta for her scientific and hands-on guidance of medical students and newly graduating surgeons.
In addition, Nasrallah was given the Sr. Mark’s Award by the University of Alberta in honor of her exceptional work as a general surgeon during the COVID-19 pandemic.
