BEIJING: China says it is ready to work with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by the leadership of the two countries during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian made the remarks during a regular briefing on Wednesday.

He added that Beijing was also committed to working on the outcomes of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) joint committee meeting.

While appreciating Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal’s work with regard to CPEC, Zhao said that the minister has been a key supporter of progress under CPEC.

He said that the Chinese side would ramp up cooperation in the industrial sector, as well as the setting up of key projects under CPEC.

He vowed to expand bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China to new areas and transform CPEC into an exemplary high-quality belt and road project.

Recently, Iqbal reviewed the ongoing CPEC projects after the 11th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) held last month.
