RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Book enthusiasts are expected to gather at the Riyadh Book Fair, which opens today and features the latest literary and artistic publications and a diverse collection of paintings and rare treasures.
Themed “An Inspiring Destination,” this event, the largest of its kind in the Arab world, offers visitors a rich cultural experience until October 7.
Spanning an area of over 55,000 square meters, the fair has 800 pavilions, with more than 1,800 publishers participating. Additionally, 70 French companies are represented through the “Lire en Francais a Riyadh” initiative. Organizers anticipate over 1 million visits to the fair.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view more than 25 rare manuscripts and collectibles on display. This year’s guest of honor is Oman, reflecting the historical ties and fraternal relations between the two nations.
Oman’s pavilion will occupy a central position, showcasing books, manuscripts, and cultural items, with leading figures from Oman’s arts and culture scene in attendance.
In conjunction with the fair, the International Publishers Conference will convene on October 4 to address various challenges in the book industry.
Sponsored by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the conference will feature speeches from prominent local and international industry leaders, publishers, authors, content creators, and specialists.
The Riyadh International Book Fair 2023 is made possible with the support of ROSHN, a national real estate developer serving as a community partner, and the Al-Riyadh Center for Political and Strategic Studies, acting as a cultural partner.
Event partners include the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, and the car rental company Yelo. —APP
