RAWALPINDI: The number of dengue cases in Rawalpindi has increased to 202 following the report of 16 new patients over the past 24 hours.

Dr. Sajjad Mehmood, the District Coordinator for Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC), reported that eight patients had come from Potohar Town Urban, five from the Municipality of Rawalpindi, and one patient each from the Chaklala Cantonment and Kahutta regions.

He reported that 36 confirmed cases were among the 66 patients admitted to the district’s health institutions, while 149 individuals had been discharged after recovering.

He claimed that over the previous 24 hours, the district government had filed 99 FIRs, fined eight people, sealed two locations, and fined people Rs 39,000 for violating dengue SOPs.

As September is a crucial month for the spread of dengue, the health officer urged the locals to take preventative measures.

He said the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi increased slowly over the week. Five to six patients per day were admitted last week, but that number increased to 15 to 18 this week. According to him, if the problem continues, could be 70 patients per day in the next month. —APP
