Rashid Misses Out as Afghanistan Unveils T20I Squad Against UAE

DUBAI: The Afghanistan Cricket Board’s selection committee has revealed an 18-player lineup for the forthcoming three-match T20I series against the UAE.

With T20I skipper Rashid Khan sidelined due to ongoing recovery from back surgery, Ibrahim Zadran steps in as captain for the series. Noteworthy additions like pace bowlers Fazal Haq Farooqi and Naveen Ul Haq bolster the squad, showcasing their dedication to representing the nation.

Afghanistan arrives on the heels of a stellar performance at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, clinching four remarkable victories, notably against teams like Pakistan and former champions England.

The complete squad comprises Ibrahim Zadran (C), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), Mohammad Ishaq (WK), Hazratullah Zazai, Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah, Darwish Rasooli, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat, Azmaullah Omarzai, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Fareed Ahmad, Naveen Ul Haq, Noor Ahmad, Mohammad Saleem, and Qais Ahmad.

Rashid Khan, Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, Ikram Alikhil, and Gulbadin Naib are named as reserves.

The highly awaited three-match T20I series against the UAE kicks off on 29 December at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
