Rainfall Likely in Next Two Days in Parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Met Office on Tuesday predicted a spate of rainfall from this evening in upper and central parts of the country for the next two days.

A westerly wave is expectedly to enter in upper areas of the country today (evening/night) and likely to persist in upper and central parts till 18 May.

Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted wind-dust or thunderstorm rain with isolated hailstorms likely in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dir, Charsadda, Peshawar, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, and Kohat on 17 and 18 May under the influence of this weather system.

A spate of rainfall is also predicted in Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Chitral, Abbotabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Kasur, Haripur, and Bannu.

Several parts of Punjab, including Mianwali, Khushab, Sheikhupura, Nankana, Tank, Karak, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Dera Ismail Khan, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Okara, and Lahore on 17 and 18 May under the influence of this weather system.

Rainfall with wind and dust

While wind-dust or thunderstorm rain is likely in Balochistan, south Punjab’s cities Layyah, Pakpattan, Sahiwal and Sukkur, Kot Addu, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, Jacobabad and Larkana upper Sindh on 16 and 17 May.

The Met Office has cautioned that dust or wind storms may damage the lose structure and standing crops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Kashmir.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PSMAKP) has cautioned district administrations and concerned departments to take precautionary steps to tackle any untoward situation.
