HARARE, Zimbabwe: A commanding second-wicket partnership between Sameer Minhas and Usman Khan propelled Pakistan U19 to a formidable 354 for seven in the third tri-series fixture against Zimbabwe U19 at the Prince Edward School Ground in Harare on Monday.
The hosts’ decision to field first backfired spectacularly as the Pakistani batters took control after an early wicket.
However, the second half of the Zimbabwe chase was marred by consistent rain, and the match was eventually declared a no-result.

Minhas Continues Golden Run
Right-handed opener Sameer Minhas, fresh from being named Player of the Tournament at the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup, continued his sensational form with a masterful 142 off just 106 balls.
His innings, packed with 17 fours and four sixes, was complemented perfectly by left-handed Usman Khan’s fluent 121 from 112 deliveries.
The pair added 199 runs for the second wicket, dismantling the Zimbabwean attack and laying an unshakable foundation. Huzaifa Ahsan provided a late flourish with a brisk 54, pushing the total past 350.
Washed Out Without a Ball Faced in Reply
Despite the colossal target set, persistent rain intervened during the innings break, preventing Zimbabwe U19 from even beginning their chase.
The match was eventually declared a no-result, leaving Pakistan’s powerful batting performance without a contest. For Zimbabwe, Kirby Madharamete was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets.
Context of a Prolific Prodigy
The century further cements Sameer Minhas’s status as a rising star. Earlier this month, he scored a monumental 177 on his unofficial debut and a match-winning 172 in the Youth ODI Asia Cup final against India.
He is the younger brother of Arafat Minhas, who has already represented Pakistan at the senior level.
Pakistan had earlier won a thrilling one-wicket match against Afghanistan in their series opener. Their next match in the tri-series is against Afghanistan on Friday, January 2.
