ISLAMABAD: A three-day Railway labourers strike in Belgium is creating havoc in the country’s transportation system.
Railway unions started a strike late Monday, protesting against the government for insufficient infrastructure, stingy budget, failure to improve labourers’ working conditions, and lack of personnel. Train services have been cancelled across the country and half of the trains operated on Wednesday and Thursday.
Impact beyond Belgium
Railway services disrupted cross-border between the Netherlands. Nine trains between the neighbouring countries, five intercity trains from Amsterdam to Brussels, and four heading the other way have been cancelled. Dutch train company Nederlands Spoorwegen (NS) said that the strike will likely continue to be felt at least through Thursday.
