ISLAMABAD: Former South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has named his all-time Left-Handers’ XI, featuring two Pakistani legends, an Indian player, and a mix of some of the game’s most explosive batters and bowlers.
De Kock, known for his fearless stroke play and sharp glove work, named himself as opener and wicketkeeper, partnering with Australia’s Matthew Hayden, a towering figure who once redefined aggressive opening.
At No. 3 and 4, de Cock selected Sri Lanka’s duo Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara, both of whom brought elegance to world cricket.
The middle order boasts the ever-reliable Michael Hussey from Australia and Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who brings both batting depth and spin options.
Slotting in at No. 7 is Pakistan’s legendary Wasim Akram, widely considered the greatest left-arm pacer of all time.
Known for his lethal swing and unplayable yorkers, Akram’s record speaks volumes: 502 ODI wickets and 414 Test scalps.
De Kock’s bowling unit is a dream quartet of left-arm brilliance. Rangana Herath of Sri Lanka is the team’s lone specialist spinner, weaving magic with his flight and guile.
The pace battery includes Mitchell Johnson (Australia), Chaminda Vaas (Sri Lanka), and Mohammad Amir (Pakistan) – a trio that combines raw pace, swing, and precision.
Amir, who made headlines with a return to the 2024 T20 World Cup after an initial retirement in 2020, had a lukewarm campaign and re-retired in December 2024.
Despite a rollercoaster career, his inclusion reflects de Kock’s appreciation of sheer talent and impact.
